When I Felt a Part of Something Bigger

Good evening everyone! I hope everyone has caught up on their much needed sleep, thank you Daylight Savings! My body was feeling a little sluggish, so I headed right where I needed to. Yep, you guessed it, the gym! Anyway, as I was catching my breath in between bulgarian split squats...those things are a killer...we have a love hate relationship. Ugh, focus. Where was I? Oh, right. They gym. Catching my breath. However, this time I really looked around at the people who were working out, and it hit me. Everyone is here for the same reason. To live a healthier lifestyle and get in shape (or better shape).

I looked at the women this time, like really looked at them. Not out of jealousy this time either, because who doesn't judge the girl with the great legs, flat abs, or the girl with the fat booty we all want?! Am I right?! I looked at the women of all ages, shapes, and sizes, and felt a part of something. I felt connected to these women, these strangers, and felt a peace come over me. I was proud to be a woman in the gym working on getting myself healthier and back into shape.

Now, some of you may think I'm crazy after living my life in a gym (thank you sports), to finally waking up and really smelling the sweat. Eww. But, many women are self-conscious of their bodies and working out at the gym. Many of my female friends are terrified to go to the gym and lift for many reasons, the main being judged. The society we live in has put a mold on women and dictates what we should look like, how we should dress, and act. I for one, am guilty of this.

But I say to hell with what society and others think! You want to eat that cookie. Eat it! You want to buy that outfit you're scared to wear. Buy it. You want to go to the gym. Go! You want to lift? LIFT! Do what makes you happy and I guarantee you will feel and look better immediately.

It is time women stop judging themselves and others. We need to stand together and empower one another. Why you might ask? I question, Why not??

Goodnight my beauties.
