For months, Scotty and I couldn't commit to a destination we wanted to travel to. There are so many places that we want to see, together. However, after looking at both of our crazy schedules and our finances, we decided on Ontario, Canada. More specifically, Toronto and stopping along the way at Niagara Falls.
I was so excited! I had never been to Toronto, and we had seen Niagara Falls from the American side, but not the Canadian. I was looking forward to experiencing new places with Scotty by my side. We had an incredible trip and we definitely want to go back! Read on to check out how we spent our time in Canada!
| THURSDAY |
We hopped in the car and prepared for the 5+ hour drive to Niagara Falls. We were more then ready to get there and enjoy our vacation.
SKYLON TOWER - NIAGARA FALLS, ONTARIO, CANADA
This tower has amazing views of the falls. You take a quick elevator ride up to the observation deck and are then privy to the 360 degree views. It is outdoor, yet there is caging so you don't feel unsafe at all. (Trust me, I have a fear of heights). The Skylon Tower also offers a dining experience 775 feet above the falls. (Scotty and I didn't do this).
THE TOWER HOTEL - NIAGARA FALLS, ONTARIO, CANADA
Scotty and I checked into our hotel and we were shocked at the views of the falls from the hotel. It was spectacular. Also, the 25th floor offers amazing views of the falls and the fireworks! The room was great and we even had a jacuzzi bathtub! *sigh*
COPACABANA BRAZILIAN STEAKHOUSE - NIAGARA FALLS, ONTARIO, CANADA
Can you say full?! I think Scotty is still recovering from all of the steak he ate! I have to be honest. When I first heard Brazilian steakhouse, all I pictured was that scene from Bridesmaids...you know which scene I'm talking about. I thought, Ohhh no. I can't have that happen on my vacay! But, Scotty reallyyyy wanted to eat there so I took a leap of faith. Copacabana is beautiful inside and out, clean, and extremely lively. There was even a band playing on their patio! The waiters come around to each table and literally slice a piece of meat off a skewer onto your plate. Annnd they're all pretty cute!! If you aren't a meat lover, there are also chicken and fish options, as well as a buffet of veggies, fruits, pastas, and breads.
Niagara Falls during the summer months offer fireworks over the falls every night. This is an amazing opportunity and I am so grateful Scotty and I were able to experience it. The falls are also illuminated every night, and on certain nights, they're illuminated a specific color in honor of a holiday or special cause. They were illuminated Red, White, and Blue while we were there. (Scotty was thinking it was because France had just won the WORLD CUP!!)

JOURNEY BEHIND THE FALLS - NIAGARA FALLS, ONTARIO, CANADA
This is a must-do while you are visiting! Scotty and I woke up early-ish and headed to the falls. We got tickets for Journey Behind the Falls, got our souvenir ponchos, and stepped into the elevator; which took us down 150 feet! From there, you were able to walk through a tunnel and into different portals to see the falls crashing down, or you could step out onto one of the two observation decks. Let me tell you, that poncho came in super handy! Everyone was soaked!! However, the views are breathtaking. It is shocking to see the water tumbling down at a speed of 65 kilometers/hour.
After our journey, we headed back to the hotel to get our belongings and get back in the car for our drive to Toronto.
FORT YORK - TORONTO, CANADA
For all you history buffs out there, this is the place for you! Fort York has Canada's largest collection of original War of 1812 buildings and battle site. They also provide tours and demonstrations for its visitors. Scotty and I were able to watch a demonstration on musket firing which was pretty cool.
HUNTERS LANDING - TORONTO, CANADA
I first have to thank the cops for recommending this place to us. No, we didn't get pulled over or into trouble!! As we were leaving Fort York, a couple of motorcycle cops were chatting nearby so I went over and asked a good spot to grab food.
This place is delicious and super cute!! They have both indoor and outdoor seating; both are instagram worthy. You're welcome. The waitstaff is super friendly and our waitress even gave us recommendations on places to check out while we were there. I wanted to go back before we left, but of course, not enough time in the day!! Hunters Landing is a must see place.
DELTA MARRIOT HOTEL - TORONTO, CANADA
Yes please. The Delta Marriot Hotel was a great hotel and I highly recommend staying here. It is located in downtown Toronto right below the CN Tower, and in between the Scotiabank Arena and Rogers Centre. It is within walking distance to everything, which is perfect! The hotel is extremely modern and the staff is friendly and very helpful.
CN TOWER - TORONTO, CANADA
Holy heights!! The CN Tower is the place to check out when visiting Toronto. Scotty and I purchased the tickets for the main pod and figured we might not be back for awhile, so lets go to the skypod too.
Well, we step into the elevator, that is mostly glass, and travel up 1,135 feet. I have a fear of heights, so I was already scared, but traveling in a glass elevator for a 58 seconds at 15 mph was terrifying. Wait, it gets worse! An older man near me, could see the panic and told me that the floor had glass panels and I could see out. I thought I was going to pass out.
However, that being said, when we got to the Lookout Level, I stepped out, a bit shaky, but was overcome by the beauty of Toronto's views. The Lookout is extremely spacious, so you don't feel claustrophobic at all. The floor to ceiling panoramic windows provide a new perspective of Toronto. There is also a Glass Floor (which I struggled with) on the floor below the Lookout. The Glass Floor has a view of 1,122 feet straight down. I'm still shaking!!
The Skypod is 1,465 feet high above the city, and is one of the highest observation platforms in the world. It is a lot smaller and I was definitely hugging the wall. The views are incredible and you get an even higher vantage point of 360 degrees of Toronto.
For those of you that are adrenaline junkies, you will love the EdgeWalk. This is one of the most thrilling attractions (which I did not partake in) and people can walk the edge of the main pod. You are attached to a safety rail and go out in groups of 6 along with your guide. I'm sure it is an amazing experience...I'll let you tell me alllll about it.
Despite my fear of heights, I am so happy I was able to experience the CN Tower alongside Scotty.
THE ROOF AT SOCO - DELTA MARRIOT HOTEL, TORONTO, CANADA
This is the place to be. The Roof at Soco offers amazing views of Toronto's skyline while providing you with drinks, small plates and a few lawn games. The music is bumping, and during Happy Hour there was a DJ that kept me dancing! (I'm not sure the schedule of their DJ's but it was a good time). Whether you're there for Happy Hour afterwork, or a pre-dinner cocktail, the views are breathtaking.
FUNE - TORONTO, CANADA
This sushi restaurant was recommended by one of our hotel concierge. Walking in, you're not sure exactly what you're getting into, but as you descend the stairs, you are greeted by their friendly staff. I recommend sitting at the revolving sushi bar. It is an experience that we thoroughly enjoyed. Plus the food is delicious. Win-win.
OASIS - TORONTO, CANADA
While exploring after dinner, Scotty and I stumbled across Oasis,. which is partt of Wayne Gretzky's Restaurant. We went up to the rooftop, which was cute and had the bistro lights that I am obsessed with. We only had drinks but the vibe of the place was so cool. It had high energy thanks to the bumpin' DJ and a lively crowd.

CALII LOVE - TORONTO, CANADA
Scotty surprised me with Calii Love. He found it during his Toronto research and knew it was the type of place I'd love. With its healthy food, positive vibes, and instagram worthy space, you can't help but love it. They blended California and Hawaii healthy lifestyles and did not disappoint. This is a must-see place! Make sure to bring your camera and snap some cute pics for the gram while you're there!
TORONTO ISLAND - TORONTO, CANADA
Two words. Nude Beach. I had heard part of Toronto Island had an optional clothing beach, but I still wasn't prepared. However, that being said, there is a mandatory clothing spot as well and regardless of the clothing, the views of the Lake are gorgeous. Toronto Island offers 3 ferry boats from the harbor to the island. Depending on where you want to go, you can take the ferry to Hanlan's Point (the beach), Centre Island, or Ward's Island.
E11EVEN - TORONTO, CANADA
3200 bottles of wine in their glass cellar. Whoa! e11even is known as a wine bar, but also has a restaurant and patio as well. We stopped in for a quick bite and some drinks that were amazing.
TAVERNA - TORONTO, CANADA
Scotty and I passed by Taverna walking one afternoon, and the food smelled amazing. We decided on here for dinner and some yummy Italian food. We sat on their patio and it was the perfect people watching spot. The food didn't disappoint either!! Margherita pizza is a must!
KEVIN HART SHOW - SCOTIABANK ARENA, TORONTO, CANADA
AMAZINGGGGG!! Scotty and I are both huge Kevin Hart fans and we were so pumped to discover he would be in the city the same time we would be. Scotty got us floor seats and I swear Kevin Hart and I made eye contact, multiple times. Yup. Be jealous. I know I would be. Seriously though, if you are a fan of comedy shows, or even if you're not, you NEED to see Kevin Hart live. He is hysterical and my cheeks still hurt from laughing so hard.
CHAR NO. 5 - DELTA MARRIOT HOTEL, TORONTO, CANADA
Scotty sniffed this spot out immediately. It is located off the lobby of the hotel and is Canada's premier whisky bar. It offers some of the world's best whisky and the bartenders are extremely knowledgable and helpful in helping you choose a drink. They also offer cocktails, beer, and wine, although they are known for their whisky. Just ask to see the whisky menu...you'll be shocked at the size.
SOCO RESTAURANT - DELTA MARRIOT HOTEL, TORONTO, CANADA
This place is dope. The food was amazing and the service was great. They offer a buffet, items from the menu (they let me tweak a few things), and also have a SOCO to go area. It has a modern vibe with a bistro like atmosphere. We went for breakfast before checking out of our hotel, but the place was poppin at all times.
Sadly, we didn't have time to check out as much as we wanted. Below are some places that were recommended to us that we didn't get to visit.
| RECOMMENDATIONS WE DIDN'T GET TO CHECK OUT |
Our trip to Canada was amazing and we will definitely remember this vacation. If you made it all the way through the post, thank you and I hope you enjoyed it.
I'd love to hear about your trips to Canada and any other recommendations I can add to our list for next time!
